Mines predictor: what can and cannot be known

Why nothing can name the safe tiles in advance, what the odds of each pick really are, and a practice grid to watch it for yourself.

Try this many mines:

A 3% edge is only an example. Apps differ and some do not state one, so use the figure your own app states. If it does not, type the multiplier it shows after that many safe picks in the last box and the calculator works out the edge that multiplier implies.

On a grid of 25 tiles with 3 mines, you get through 3 safe picks about 67.0% of the time (1 in 1.5). With a 3% edge, a cash-out at that point pays 1.45× (break-even is 1.49×). Wherever you cash out, the game keeps about 3% of what is staked: ₹300 over 100 rounds at ₹100. By pick 5, a mine is more likely than not to have ended the round.

Practise with pretend money

Press Start, open tiles one at a time, and cash out whenever you like. The mines are placed by random numbers from your browser, using the grid, mines and edge above. There is no money in it, and it is not any app’s game: it shows how rounds tend to run.

Auto-play opens the first tiles each time and cashes out after the number of safe picks set above.

Does it matter which tiles you tap?

Four ways of choosing tiles, tried on the same 2,000 random layouts: always the top rows, always the bottom rows, tiles spread across the grid, and fresh random tiles each round. Run it a few times.

Predictors, bots and signals for Mines all promise to know the next layout. They cannot: in a game that draws its layout fresh for each round, a past round is not a clue. The figures that do hold are in the calculator: 67.0% of rounds get through 3 safe picks, and every cash-out point keeps the same share.

Even a lucky streak changes nothing on average. A 3-pick cash-out pays 1.45×, and over 100 rounds at ₹100 the game still keeps about ₹300. The practice grid lets you watch that with no knowledge of the next round at all.

Nothing here comes from any app, and nothing is stored. It is arithmetic you can check.

Common questions

Why do Mines predictor screenshots look so convincing?

Because safe picks are common and failures are left out. On a grid of 25 tiles with 3 mines, ten safe picks in a row happen in about one round in five by luck alone. A post that shows only the rounds that went well is not evidence.

How can I test a Mines predictor against plain luck?

Play a few hundred rounds and write down how often each of its picks was safe, then set that beside the table in the calculator for your grid. A predictor that does no better than the table is guessing. Do not pay before you have run the test.

Should I pay for Mines signals or a prediction channel?

No. No fee can buy a layout that has not been drawn yet. Groups that sell signals often show wins for free, then ask for a payment or a bigger deposit. Never pay one, and never share a code or a password with one.

How likely is each safe pick in Mines?

It falls with every pick. On a grid of 25 tiles with 3 mines the first tile is safe 88.0% of the time, two in a row 77.0%, five in a row 49.6% and ten in a row 19.8%. The calculator multiplies the chance of each pick to give these figures for any grid.

What does the chance of finishing a Mines session ahead mean?

It is the exact chance that a session of the chosen length returns more than was staked. It is higher over a few rounds and falls steadily as the number of rounds grows, because the average loss builds with every round.
