Link safety checker: what a check can and cannot tell you

A link check reads the address, not the site. See what it can tell you, why a low score is not a green light, and how to use it.

Worked example, not your link. The checker was run on a made-up address. Paste your own link above, or tap an example, and this is replaced by the result for that link.

nonenothing in the address stood out, which is still not a green light

The made-up address https://example.com/ scores Low (0 of 100 points) with no warning signs. Low means fewer than 25 points. It never means the link is safe, because the checker cannot see who runs the site or what the page does.

A safety check on a link reads the address and nothing else. It looks for borrowed names, hidden destinations, plain http, cheap endings and app-file downloads, adds up points and gives a rating. It runs on your phone and sends nothing anywhere. What it cannot do is look behind the address, so a clean score is never the end of the checking.

The example on this page, https://example.com/, scores Low: 0 / 100. There is nothing wrong with the address, and that is the point. A page with that address could still ask for your password. The rating says the address has no marks, and no more than that.

The checker is free, needs no sign-in and runs in your browser.

A Low rating is never a green light. Where a link came from matters more than how its address reads.

Common questions

Can any link checker promise that a link is safe?

No. A checker sees the address, not the owner of the site or what the page does. The most it can say is that an address has warning signs or has none, and it should say plainly that none is not the same as safe.

What does a Low rating mean?

It means the address earned fewer than 25 warning points and often none. It does not mean the site is run by who you think, and it does not mean nothing more will happen once you tap.

What do I do after a link scores Low?

Think about where it came from. A link you asked for, from someone you know, is different from one in an advert or a forwarded message. Never type an OTP, UPI PIN or card details on a page reached through a forwarded link.

What should I do if a link scores High?

Do not open it, and do not type your number, an OTP or payment details on it. Ask the sender by another route, such as a phone call, and start from an address you already know instead of the link.

Can a link be dangerous when the checker rates it Low?

Yes. Low means the address itself earned few warning points. The checker cannot see who runs the site, how old it is or what the page does, so a low rating is never a green light.
